Domain Name Registration
Domain name registration is the process through which a company rents a name usually referred to as a top level domain name. This naming convention is organized by an organization named the ICANN. The ICANN is located in the US.
The domain name is then linked via a DNS (domain name server) to an IP address. This IP address is the internet address of the physical server that contains the information for that site.Therefore, when somebody types in the domain name in a browser, the request first travels to a DNS and requests the corresponding IP of the server. Once the IP address is returned, the request travels to the server. The server is given an opportunity to “respond” to the request. The Response has two parts: The head and the body. And also the response carries a response code, for example: 200 if the requested content was found or 404 if the requested content is not found.
The different files and folders are located in a hard drive in a server somewhere in the world with the assigned internet protocol address. This hard drive space is either owned by the company or rented in what is known as a hosting service.
